General
Hill O’Beith is a fine Victorian Farmhouse and stone steading well situated in open countryside between the market town of Beith and the attractive village of Gateside in North Ayrshire. The Farmhouse is situated half a mile on the B777 from either settlement. It is ideally positioned for easy access to Glasgow, about 19 miles, an easy 25 minutes drive. It is also only 11 miles from Paisley and Irvine both easily accessible via the A737, the main Glasgow to Irvine Road. Hill O’Beith is about ½ mile from Beith with an excellent range of local shops and facilities. Both Glengarnock (about 3 miles) and Lochwinnoch (about 4 miles) have mainline railway stations with regular services to Glasgow and beyond. There are frequent domestic and international flights from both Glasgow and Prestwick Airports, some 15 and 17 miles away, respectively. Beith has a recently constructed new primary school and secondary schooling is available in the area. There is primary schooling available at Gateside and the nearest private school is St. Columba’s in Kilmacolm.
Ayrshire is renowned for its many superb golf courses which include the world famous links at Royal Troon and Turnberry, which is due to host the Open Championship in 2009. Beith and Lochwinnoch both have 18-hole golf courses and Hill O’Beith is adjacent to the Beith course. There are excellent yachting facilities at the marinas in Troon, Largs, Ardrossan and Inverkip. The Clyde Muirshiel Country Park is close at hand with walking and outdoor opportunities.
