Brickrow Farm is a most attractive small farm of about 54.5 acres situated at Auchincruive about 2 miles outside Ayr. Whilst very close to the County Town, Brickrow is nevertheless in a private rural position. Ayr provides an excellent range of amenities including state and private schools for all ages a variety of leisure facilities and excellent shopping. There is a railway station in town which provides regular half hourly services to Glasgow and beyond. Glasgow itself is easily commutable by car via the A77 and M77, and Prestwick Airport is less than 5 miles away with a full range of regular domestic and international flights.

Ayrshire is renowned for its many golf courses including the world famous facilities at Prestwick, Turnberry and Royal Troon. Turnberry will host the Open Championship in 2009. There is the popular Racecourse in Ayr and excellent yachting facilities at the marinas in Troon, Largs and Inverkip. There are many opportunities for game sports here in Ayrshire and the area has some of South West Scotland’s finest salmon and trout fishing.

DESCRIPTION

Brickrow is an excellent small farm which is owned by the Scottish Government and which was used to provide research and training facilities. The farmhouse is attractively positioned with a number of large rooms but requires refurbishment. The adjoining courtyard steading has considerable scope for development for a variety of purposes including residential conversion, subject to planning permission being obtained. The remaining modern farm buildings are extensive and include various portal frame and brick built buildings with extensive areas of hardstanding. These remain suitable for modern farming purposes and have potential for a variety of other rural based uses also subject to planning permission being forthcoming. There is good access to the farm from the B743 Ayr to Mauchline Road.

The farm land extends to about 54.5 acres in total. It is good arable and grazing land in the most part being class 3(1) and 3(2) under the Macaulay Institute Land Classification. It is at a height of 40 metres above sea level. The farm is available as a whole or in separate lots.
