General
Carron Cottage lies in the heart of Lochcarron, a delightful west Highland village lying strung out along the north shore of Loch Carron. The village grew up around its fishing industry but nowadays it is a popular tourist destination and provides excellent amenities with a range of shops including petrol stations. Lochcarron has a primary school, medical centre and dental surgery. There is a 9 hole golf course, as well as a number of hotels and good restaurants. There is also a railway station at Strathcarron, 2 miles from Lochcarron. This is a stop on the famous Kyle line between Inverness and the Kyle of Lochalsh, said to be the most scenic railway line in Britain.
This area of Scotland is famous for its beauty, from rugged mountain ranges to the beaches and coastline, and is very popular with climbers, hill walkers and sailors. There is also excellent stalking and fishing available locally.
Purchased by the vendor in 2001, Carron Cottage has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme which has just been completed and the property is in first class order throughout. Situated in an attractive terrace of cottages, with loch frontage Carron Cottage is semi-detached with lovely views over Loch Carron to the Attadale Hills and beyond.
To the rear of the house is the former bakery that served the village, sadly now ruinous but with the old ovens and dough making machines still in place. This building does offer potential for some form of development. There is an extensive area of ground to the rear of the house which slopes up quite steeply with a number of terraces interspersed with a variety of trees and shrubs.
Carron Cottage is approached off the pavement by a new PVC, double glazed door which opens to:
