General
Aigen Lodge is an attractive house lying close to the small town of Aberlour on the banks of the River Spey. On an elevated site and mainly surrounded by open farmland, the house has panoramic mountain views and lies on the edge of Quarry Wood, an exclusive, small rural development of up to five contemporary homes. Aigen Lodge is a recently constructed house and has been built and finished to the highest standard to create a most delightful family home. Positioned to take full advantage of the wonderful views and providing a spacious and well appointed interior, the house has many attractive features including the stone and slate fireplace in the sitting room, the large and well appointed kitchen and hardwood doors, facings and window frames throughout, while glazed screens between the hall, sitting room and dining area produce a bright and airy living space.
There is good range of shops and amenities in nearby Aberlour and schooling up to secondary level is available both in the town and at Gordonstoun Independent School, about 20 miles away. Elgin has more extensive facilities including a railway station on the main Inverness to Aberdeen line, while Inverness and Aberdeen airports are 45 and 60 miles away respectively and both have frequent flights to the South and Europe.
Aigen Lodge lies close to the Cairngorm National Park and in the heart of Speyside, an area best known for its beautiful countryside, salmon fishing and malt whisky production. The region offers many opportunities for sport and recreation with a number of way marked walks and cycle trails nearby, including the Speyside Way, and fishing, shooting and stalking available on local estates, including salmon fishing on the world famous River Spey. There are a number of golf courses in the area and The Lecht Ski and Activity Centre is open all year round. Speyside is the home of malt whisky and this area forms part of the whisky trail with many distilleries with visitors' centres close by.
Aigen Lodge is approached off the single track public road via a beech and pine tree lined drive over which the owners have a right of access. Double wooden gates with lantern lights open to a monoblock drive way leading to a gravelled parking area at the side of the house.
