Ayr itself is a very attractive seaside county town.  It has excellent shopping facilities, theatres, art galleries, parks and gardens.  There is a good choice of schools.  Ayrshire is renowned for its golf and championship courses at Turnberry, Prestwick and Royal Troon which are all within 20 miles, a half hours drive, along with about 12 other excellent courses.

Sundrum Castle has been comprehensively restored and divided vertically into three superb mansion houses.  The Wallace Tower is the oldest part of the Castle thought to have been built in the fourteenth century and incorporates the original tower.
